a hard, usually flat surface, by cutting grooves into it.
The result may be a decorated object in itself, as
when silver, gold, steel, or glass are engraved.
Emboss or Embossing is the process to create
highlights or shadows that will replace light/dark
boundaries of an image.
The raising of paper and other non-metal products.
Foil stamping, typically a commercial print process, is
the application of metallic foil, often gold or silver, but
can also be various patterns. This can be combined with embossing to create a more striking 3D image.
